About Us

Culinary Courier

Culinary Courier was founded in 2004 by Terri Piazza Shong. After much research, it was easy to see a unique need for food in our area, that Culinary Courier would soon fill. We found that in Silicon Valley there were many people with fast-paced lives, in need of some convenience, to help them feed family and friends in the warmth of their own homes. We cater to people who have a passion for delicious California~esque dishes, yet did not want the burden of shopping and cooking. Our product allows customers to entertain in their home, and serve from their own kitchen.

Our menu ranges from the most casual food, to fine appetizers to entrees. Our flavors are bold. We consistently use the freshest herbs, vegetables, and meats. We try for organic as much as possible and our produce all comes to us locally from farms within a 250 mile radius.

It has been our goal for 5 years to expand our special niche catering, to a “grab and go” storefront in Los Gatos Ca. Our storefront will make fresh each day, many of our current catering menu items. We will package this variety the large variety of offerings into perfect amounts for individuals, families and larger groups. Our customers will be able to drive over and “grab and go” quickly and easily, any time the craving strikes! This will work well for individuals, students, and seniors. We will implement curbside pick up within the first 2 months of opening so customer’s can simply call in their order, and it is delivered to their car in our Market’s parking lot.

For the last 13 years, Culinary Courier has been exclusively a boutique caterer, used for intimate dinners as well as larger gatherings where heavy hors d’oeuvres are the main meal served. With the extensive menu, customers have all the choices they need for any kind of event from dinner for 6, to a mingling party for 100! Customers enjoy the ease of using our simple reheating instructions to present restaurant quality meals to guests, taking only minutes to heat and serve. Many of our customers even take the pre-packed meals on vacation.

Terri Shong, Founder

Terri is a 5th generation Californian that grew up in Saratoga. Terri has been cooking since childhood and worked in the hospitality industry throughout her college years. Her interests brought her to work with people with developmental disabilities, while she enjoyed a career in High Tech. Terri always hoped to incorporate some of these individuals into her catering company. In 1995 Terri was honored to begin raising Zach, Tessa, and Meg. They are Terri and her husband’s entire world. The kids have held all positions in Culinary Courier from dish washing, to delivering, to marketing! Their family is finally attaining their dream of a brick and mortar store for their fare.

They’ve been fortunate to come full circle. Currently over 40% of our staff is made up of adults with developmental disabilities. These incredible employees are an integral part of Culinary Courier’s ability to grow as a Company, as well as a huge part of the daily happiness in their kitchen!

Justin Shong, Co-founder

Justin has more than 20 years’ experience in the technology industry, 15 of which have been spent in executive sales roles. Justin has served as SVP of Global Sales and named officer of a NASDAQ company, including a successful IPO. Justin obtained his B.S. and MBA in Finance degrees from Santa Clara University. Justin has been co-owner, and business partner, in Culinary Courier since day one. In addition to his career in high tech sales, he joins his family on weekends and at nights to help us grow our daily business. He has served in every role in their Company. His emphasis is in driving sales and making it a great place for their employees to work.

Moi Navarro, Head Chef

Moi brings 10+ years experience as role of chef in successful catering companies such as “Just Catering”, and “The Other Woman”. His specialty is flavor, and great execution in fast paced environments serving up to 1500 attendee’s, as well as intimate gatherings. His skills as our head chef, along with his tremendous contribution to our menu, and vast network within Silicon Valley’s food service ecosystem, has had an incredible impact in preparing us for the opening of our Market, while handling all aspects of our current catering clients. Culinary Courier recruited Moi in 2015 from “Thea” in Santana Row.

The portions are generous.
